NO BORING RACE JULY 2024 RECAP
I've got to say that I'm incredibly happy with how the No Boring Race went.
Of course, it wasn't perfect.
There are a bunch of things that we could improve on, but there's a lot to feel good about this race.
Many participants and friends have reached out to congratulate and thank me for organizing this race.
The truth is that there would be no race without the unbelievable efforts of Uban ta Bai’ke.
I'm really happy I partnered with them.
Not only were they a great group to work with, but they tackled all the difficult logistical challenges that simply would have been impossible for me to do so. Coordinate with the barangays, medical teams, marshalls, post the directional signages, host reconnaissance rides, and a whole lot more.
It's not easy organizing a race.
And I'll be honest with you, I was worried.
I was worried that cyclists wouldn't show up for the race. I was worried that I would have to shoulder the costs associated with hosting the race. I was worried when we had to make last minute changes to the plans. I was worried that cyclists might get hurt.
Again.
It's not easy organizing a race.
But I firmly believe that events are so important to fostering a community.
And while I was hanging out in the finish line, that's what it felt like.
It felt like a bunch of friends just getting together, going out on a super hard ride, and talking about how hard that ride was.
Although, I'll be honest, I would have wanted to experience the super hard ride part, but at least, I got to experience the hanging out part.
Hopefully, we can do another one soon.
I've got another cycling event in mind. Something more chill, but hopefully just as fun.
We'll see if we can put it together again.
Cheers!
